INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Equipment needed
-
Can be applied with a brush, trowel or by spraying.
Bonding or priming
-
No priming is necessary.
Surface preparation
-
The surface must be cleaned from any matter that might affect adhesion for example oil, wax, foreign matters, grease or dirt.
-
Grit blasting is commonly needed for concrete.
-
Repair surfaces with large blowholes or spalled surfaces with DURA.FLEX or another a.b.e approved repaired mortar. If another repair mortar is used make sure that it is approved for contact with food and drinking water.
-
The coating can be applied directly without needing treatment if the surface contains blowholes less than 1 mm wide.
-
Cracks narrower than 0.3 mm wide can simply be overcoated as long as the crack is unlikely to open up to a greater width.
-
Cracks wider than 0.3 mm must be chased out to 4 mm wide and 15 mm deep and filled out with a thicker consistency DURA.FLEX. As soon as the material in the cracks has hardened, apply a coating over the crack.
Mixing
-
A mechanical mixer, like a slow speed electric drill, is imperative.
-
Fill roughly three-quarters of component A (milky liquid) into a bucket and, while stirring continuously, slowly add component B (greyish powder). Mixing must be continued until the mix is homogeneous and lump-free. The remainder of component A must be added for horizontal surfaces like reservoir bases. For all other applications add only enough of component A to get the correct consistency. An easy to apply plastic thixotropic liquid is the result of the mixing of the two components.
-
Excellent adhesion to concrete, natural stone surfaces and plaster is ensured by the finely dispersed resin component.
-
ABE DURA.FLEX is water- and weatherproof after curing. It is highly impermeable to water vapour and carbon dioxide.
-
Cured coating shows a high degree of flexibility and can be used to overbridge hairline cracks of up to 0.2 mm wide.
Pre-Dampening the substrate
-
The substrate surface must be completely dampened with clean water using a brush, spraying or a roller. High porosity surfaces must be dampened to a greater extent. Allow the water to soak into the substrate until just visibly damp before proceeding.
-
Excess water must be removed with a sponge.
-
The surface must be SSD meaning surface saturated dry. This is a condition that the concrete must be saturated with water, but the other surface must be dry.
How to apply
-
Bristle block brush, trowel, rubber squeegee or spraying can be used to apply the product to a correctly prepared surface.
-
When applying with a block brush the product should be applied in three coats with a final film thickness of 2-3 mm on the surface. Alternate coats should be applied at right angles to each other. Allow a minimum of 4 hours at 20° C/50% RH curing between coats.
-
A trowel is recommended for use on horizontal services. When using a trowel, the first layer should be applied to a thickness of 1-1.5 mm. Allow a minimum of 4 hours at 20° C/50% RH curing between coats then apply a second layer using a steel float. The product should not be applied with a thickness greater than 1.5 mm per coat.
-
Special equipment is needed to use spraying as a method of application.
-
The second coat should only be applied after the first coat has cured hard to the touch. There is no maximum time that must elapse before the overcoat is applied, but surfaces must be kept clean.
-
Temperature and humidity will affect the rate of curing. Curing can take up to 16 hours in lower temperatures or with lower humidity.
-
The surface does not need to be dampened again before the subsequent coatings are applied.
Reinforcement with abe mesh.
-
Abe mesh may be incorporated to reinforce the DURA.FLEX at joints and cracks.
-
The mesh must be bedded into the first coat while the coating is still wet.
-
To wet out the mesh apply a thin coat of DURA.FLEX immediately after the mesh is placed.
-
The first coat must set before the second coat is applied.
Cleaning
-
All equipment used must be cleaned immediately after use (before material has set) with abe super brush cleaner.
-
This should be followed up by washing with water and soap.
Protection on completion
-
May be left as it is without the need for further protective applications.
-
Alternatively, it could be painted over with high-quality PVA acrylic paint or tiled over.
Temperature and relative humidity
-
Application temperature is 5° C-40° C.
-
Do not apply if rain is imminent.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
-
Store in a clean and dry place out of direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions like frost.
-
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
-
This product has a shelf-life of 12 months if kept in a dry cool place in the original packaging.

You can do so by logging a return on www.farmability.co.za, and we will arrange to collect the product from you at no charge. Once we have inspected the product and validated your return, we will at your choice repair / replace the product (if such repair is possible / we have the same product in stock to use as a replacement) or credit your account with the purchase price of the product (or refund you if that is your preference). If such a product turns out to be defective more than 6 months after delivery / collection (save for direct warranty products which are discussed below), please notify us as soon as reasonably possible after you become aware of the defect, but in any event within the extended supplier warranty period after delivery / collection of the product.

Please note that any extended supplier warranty is subject to whatever terms and conditions the supplier or manufacturer may impose. These are usually stated in a brochure or leaflet inside or on the product packaging. It is your responsibility to make yourself aware of any such terms and conditions.
It is also important to note that it will be in the supplier or manufacturer’s discretion what remedy it can offer you. FarmAbility is under no obligation to provide you with a credit, repair / replacement, as your remedy lies with the supplier or manufacturer. However, since we want your experience to be as good as possible, if the supplier or manufacturer has offered you a repair / replacement within the applicable extended supplier warranty and it takes longer than 21 days, we will get in touch with you to see if you would rather receive a credit / refund directly from us.

A direct warranty product is a product for which the relevant manufacturer wishes to manage defective returns itself, directly with the customer, and not through FarmAbility.
If a direct warranty product turns out to be defective or otherwise of poor quality, please notify us and we will provide you with the relevant manufacturer’s contact details. Alternatively, you can notify the relevant manufacturer directly if you already have its details. The relevant manufacturer will then assist you further, but if you have any difficulty, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you where we can.
Other than this, the same limits and general principles of the standard warranty and extended supplier warranty apply to direct warranty products.

Wherever you have used a Gift Voucher to purchase a product that you later return for a refund in accordance with the Policy, we cannot refund you in cash for that portion of the purchase price which you paid using the Gift Voucher, but we will credit your account.
Bundles
There are two types of bundles: a bundle consisting of products that either we or you (as provided on our website) have combined together in a single bundle (“Bundle Deal“); or a bundle compiled by our supplier and supplied to us as a single unit (“Pre-packed Bundle“). All returns relating to bundles are subject to the terms of this Policy as read with the following provisions:
Bundle Deal– You may return a Bundle Deal as a whole or any of its component products individually to us. If you qualify for a credit in respect of any component product, we will credit your account with the actual purchase price (after applying any applicable saving or discount) you paid for such a product as displayed in your order history.
Pre-packed Bundle– Unless otherwise indicated by us, your return of a Pre-packed Bundle will only be accepted if you return all of its component products to us. Failure to do so may result in us declining the return of a Pre-packed Bundle.
Charges and refunds
If you return a defective product to us, but you fail to return all of the accessories and parts that were sold with that product, we are entitled to (subject to applicable law) to refuse the return, only to replace the item that you did return, or to estimate the value of the missing accessories and parts and only to credit or refund you in respect of the returned item.
If you return a product that does not comply with this Policy, you may be liable to reimburse FarmAbility for the cost of collecting the product from you and the cost of having the product returned to you.
Under no circumstances will donations be refunded.
Please note that we only refund to the payment method that you originally used – i.e. payment by credit card will be refunded to the same credit card, payment by EFT will be refunded to your nominated bank account.
